We spent the day at Mustang Island State Park. The kids swam, built sand castles and experienced some marine biology. We found a cabbage head jellyfish (their sting is not painful) and each kid had a turn holding it by the bell before we put it out into the deeper water. Unfortunately, the surf was quite calm which meant that the critters were closer in to shore. One parent was stung by a sting ray. Despite the injury, the day was filled with relaxing unstructured play on the coast.
