Families in Nature offers Familias Aventureras events throughout the school year in Central Texas.  The goal of our Familias Aventureras Program is to create equitable access to nature and increase diversity in outdoor recreation and environmental education. Familias Aventureras events are funded by grants and donations and are free for participants of ethnicities that are under-represented in the outdoors and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The events are offered in English and in Spanish.

We hope that this local program will serve as an example and an inspiration to others on including families from all backgrounds in their work. At this time, this program is only offered in Central Texas, though we include information on how to create a diverse Nature Community of your own as part of our FIN Guide Development Program. We encourage all of our Guides to create diverse, inclusive Nature Communities in their own locations.

If you would like to host a Familias Aventureras event or Nature Community in your school, neighborhood or community, we invite you to join or host your own Guide Development Program. If you are interested in becoming one of our Central Texas School Partners or would like to host a Campus Campout, please contact Families in Nature at

If you would like to support our work to include everyone in nature and help get families outside together, please donate to Families in Nature here.
